Very poor support during hardwood refinishing process.Initial refinishing was done with us out of town with no prior consultation on stain color and not even a mention of what finish we wanted (oil was selected for us without asking). They were gracious enough to redo but second experience was just as bad. I expressed a lot of concerns with making sure we were confident on stain and finish before proceeding. Leading up to redo I was told I had white oak floors (which was incorrect and misled our decision making) and had an in person consultation appointment essentially deemed a waste of time by Phil and cancelled. When it came time to redo floors, I received a call from Phil the night of sanding that demanded I make a decision on stain/finish choice right away so they could move on to another job, despite not all stain/finish options having even been applied yet (they forgot to bring water based options). The next day more samples were put down but I had little time to decide, or see how they looked in different lighting conditions which was an explicit request I had prior to the rework being done. I was also mistakenly told that the floor look I was trying to achieve (my previous floors before all of this) was an oil based finish which I later found out was water based instead. Now after sanding my floors twice I’m stuck with a look that is even worse than before and not what I was trying to achieve. This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with a company and the lack of support during the entire refinishing process, especially by the owner Phil during the remedy process, is something I hope nobody else has to go through.I wish I would’ve went with another company, even if meant paying for the work twice, if it allowed for better support and adequate time to decide on stain and finish.4/7/25 update: Regarding owner’s response, it feels very disingenuous insinuating I misunderstood versus taking accountability for how the process was handled. There is no misunderstanding a phone call to hurry up so they can move on to other jobs, even before all samples had been laid down. I think this should’ve been treated with more care vs. being rushed and made to feel like fixing the problem was a nuisance to them.I also didn’t even touch on numerous issues regarding the quality of the work (visible swirl marks, large debris embedded in finish, areas completely missing finish, poor sanding around edges). They also broke a framed picture during the redo and never mentioned it to me, just threw it in the closet. Finally, they've never reached out to me after second poor experience. Not a single word. The only communication was their response to my review which attempted to discredit my experience versus taking any responsibility. Truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had with any company.
My husband and I worked with Lakeside to get all of our carpet downstairs redone, and also new vinyl upstairs with an additional carpet segment. We also did a carpet runner on the stairs and an additional rug from the left over carpet. We really enjoyed the quality of the customer service. Everyone is very knowledgeable and answered all questions. Fast responses by email and phone. The work done was of a good quality, and we were very happy with how it turned out. The only issue was one of the pieces of the stairs was misaligned, and the extra rug was a little too long. These issues were corrected promptly. We would happily recommend Lakeside for any flooring needs anyone might have!
Before and after. A drab mudroom space made cozy all because of the floor! It made all the difference. From the initial quote, to the floor selection, to the install was great! We’re so happy!!
What a wonderful experience. Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. I knew this was the right company when the sales rep came out. It was obvious he had years of experience in flooring and knew what he was talking about. The price was very fair. They kept in contact with me after signing the contract and again everyone I spoke with was very pleasant and helpful. The men who installed the oak and cork flooring were really nice and knew what they were doing. It's so nice to have a great experience and such craftmanship with a contractor! Thank you!
They did a great job and we love our new floors. We struggled to find the right flooring and color for 2 years, but Lakeside Floor Coverings worked up several custom samples until we found what we liked.See the before and after pictures!
